Basic introduction to

Melamine (chemical formula: C3H6N6), commonly known as Melamine, protein, IUPAC named "1,3, 5-triazine -2,4, 6-triamino", is a triazine containing nitrogen heterocyclic organic compounds, used as chemical raw materials. It is a white monocline crystal, almost tasteless, slightly soluble in water (3.1g/L room temperature), soluble in methanol, formaldehyde, acetic acid, ethylene glycol, glycerin, pyridine, etc., insoluble in acetone, ether, harmful to the body, not used in food processing or food additives. Melamine is a melamine made from a resin that releases large amounts of nitrogen when heated and broken down, so it can be used as a flame retardant. It is also a metabolite of the insecticide cialamine in animals and plants.

Chemical properties

Non-flammable, stable at room temperature. The aqueous solution shows weak alkalinity (pH value =8), and hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, acetic acid, oxalic acid and so on can form melamine salt. In the neutral or slightly alkaline case, and formaldehyde condensation into a variety of hydroxymethyl melamine, but in the slightly acidic (pH 5.5 ~ 6.5) and hydroxymethyl derivatives polycondensation reaction and produce resin products. When the strong acid or strong base aqueous solution hydrolyzes, the amine group is gradually replaced by the hydroxyl group, Mr. Tripolycyanoic acid diamide, further hydrolysis to produce tripolycyanoic acid monamide, finally tripolycyanoic acid.

Market development

Melamine USES urea as the raw material. It takes about 3 tons of urea to produce 1 ton of melamine. China is the world's largest producer of urea with large output and low price. Even under the background of the country imposing high tariffs to inhibit the export of urea, the annual export volume of urea is still up to (3 ~ 7 million tons). Rich urea resources make China's melamine production have a unique advantage. China's serious expansion of melamine production capacity, leading to fierce competition among Chinese melamine enterprises, the industry product prices are weak.
